2010 Community Service Activities
June: Members
contributed items to donate to the following service organizations: Austin
Assistance League, Recycled Reads, and Micah Food Pantry. We carpooled to each, shopped at the
Assistance League and Recycled Books, then volunteered to work at the food
pantry.
November: Brought
non-perishable food items to the meeting to be taken to the Capital Area Food
Bank
December: Members
filled Christmas bags to deliver to Faith
in Action South Austin Caregivers, who will give them to their low income and
lonely clients.

10 Chapter leaders attended Chapter Leadership Training on
January 26, 2010
12 Chapter members were trained to become
advocacy/information volunteers for Texas AARP
The Chapter participated in a National Night Out Activity
held by the City of Austin.
2 Chapter members served as Tax Aide Counselors
30 members participated in the Assistance League of Austin?s
?Bus with Us? program, traveling to Bryan/College Station.
The travel & social activities committee
was established and arranged for members to attend 3 plays, 1 musical, 2
museums, 1 baseball game, a tour of the Texas State Cemetery, and a van trip to
Fredericksburg. Many of the trips
included lunch or dinner out. Car
pools were arranged for all social activities
